I wanted to switch to Octopus but had to have a smart meter. Unfortunately reading issues of smart meters with solar panels decided to go with Utility Point from Scottish Power. Saving will be around £600.00 per annum & its electric pricing was some of the lowest in the market, 11.75p per kwh fixed until 2020.
If you need a code please use:Brown83766 which will get both persons £25.00 credit!
Thanks.
I got a quote a while back from Scottish Power, but they were a lot dearer for me than my current supplier British Gas? and that is without adding in the cost of charging an EV. I will be looking to move to one of the new providers soon though and this Octopus lot seem to fit the bill so far.

Energy Go gives you the 5p per kWh for four hours every night. Just be advised that the rate outside of that is slightly higher than their normal rate (I believe) at around 16p per kWh. But for me it works out to be much cheaper net overall. I considered getting a Tesla powerwall to charge up for those four hours also but decided it probably wasn’t worth it.

I've signed up to Octopus Energy to take advantage of their plunge pricing offer, which can see us paid to consume during certain network scenarios (Google Agile Octopus for the details). They also offer an EV specific tariff that has been discussed in other threads Octopus Go.

Does anyone else use them? If so, fancy sharing your referral code with me so that we both get £50 discount?

Just in case anyone else is planning on signing up, drop my code below in the referral section and we both win :)

Just used your link to sign-up, so hopefully that's £50 towards juice for you I-Pace :D

Switch should be done around a month before my car arrives (been informed 15th Feb for delivery to dealer but I'm holding on to 1st March for the vanity '19 plate ). Then I'll move to the Go tariff and take advantage of the Zappi charger install.

Anybody looking to share the wealth around here's my link:

I was with Octopus last year. I have to say, my findings were that they are woeful as a company.

My account was given to them after the collapse of Iresa, with whom I'd had an account for 18 months. Totally trouble free and very cheap I might add.
Octopus insisted on me having a smart meter for their agile tariff and as I already had one, I tried to have them take control of that. "Computer says no" was their response. "You have to have one of ours", so I said ok. 3 months later, and I was still waiting. And whilst I waited, they had put me on their "standard" tariff, so I was paying through the nose for electric.
I am now back with E-On, who have their faults, but I'm paying less for my electric per month than I was under Octopus.

Oh, and try leaving them - you'll have trouble getting their tentacles off your bank account!!

Similar story for me as an Iresa refugee or economic migrant :D
I started on the switch to the EV Go tariff, had my old smart meter from 2010 taken away and replaced with a rubbish new one. To be more accurate, a rubbish in home display. The old EDF one from 2010 was better.
The whole tariff change saga dragged on for so long despite chasing. Plus I wanted a “green” gas tariff and trying to find that on Octopus website.....on the other hand, the people I spoke to at Octopus were unfailingly pleasant and helpful. I suspec5 their IT and back office systems are just overloaded.
So I’m now a week away from getting fully onto Pure Planet with one simple tariff and green gas as well as electricity. Yes I will probably pay a bit more but it will be easier.
I will bear it in mind that the Octopus tentacles may need to be chopped off if they keep going into my bank account.

In the last few weeks I’ve changed to the Go tariff in preparation for my vehicle and Zappi charger. I will agree that their smart meter doesn’t look as “smart” as my previous eon one but it does everything I need it to. There was a bit of a delay switching from the standard tariff to the Go tariff but I’m now a happy customer. In the mean time I make use of the cheap 4 hr period by setting delays on the washing machine, dishwasher etc.

Please feel free to use and share my discount code

btw, the whole smart meter fiasco is industry wide. The v1 smart meters are pretty much locked to each supplier and Octopus can only take over certain ones. So they have to install their own.

The good news is that the v2 smart meters are starting to roll out and they are switchable between suppliers. I blame British Gas who spiked the market for everyone in the original smart meter planning phase.
