For those willing to pay the premium and travelling to Scotland - good news - Ionity started construction of a station near Perth.

On Saturday morning (1Feb), I called in (in my ICE) at the Ionity at Bonneville, on the A40 en route to several major French ski resorts (Chamonix, Portes du Soleil, Mégeve, etc). Rather to my surprise at what I expected to be a peak time on changeover day (admittedly still low season), it was completely empty of EVs. Either the 79c is keeping people away, or there aren’t many EV owners brave enough to do the trip to the Alps yet.
As well as the 4 high-power stalls, there is a 50kW CCS/Chademo/43kWAC charger, which also costs 79c/unit. Doubt if there will be many takers for that...

Well, as for me, I used Ionity last week probably for the last time for the time being.

Good news for anyone in Lithuania - today Ionity started construction of 2 stations there. Lithuania is the 20th country in Europe where Ionity started construction.

Really starting to doubt that Ionity will keep their promise to have 400 stations live by end of 2020 or even come close.
The Covid-19 crises of course was not foreseen and is certainly not helping but already before Covid-19 the pace had slowed down and it is not that construction activities completely stopped all across Europe.

The average construction time has risen to above 100 days but even counting with 3 months it means Ionity needs to start construction of a 128 stations in the next 5.5 months (=23 avg / month), the only had 3 times 20 or more new constructions in a month with Nov-18 and Sep-19 leading with 24.

See below table of 2019 vs 2020 YTD numbers - below that the current roll out status with 225 stations live and 47 under construction.

Sounds good 👍🏻, their greed is in bad taste. Perhaps any other company could take their locations 😀

FWIW even if people were prepared to use them we can't at the moment, but Ionity have now opened their Leeds Skelton Lakes site with 6 chargers

Hopefully that’ll be another unused Ionity long after lockdown is over. Luckily not in an area I’m ever likely to need it.

I haven't used any Ionity station since the end of January and am not planning to do so for a while.

Between the price increase starting and the pandemic lockdown kicking in, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that usage of Ionity dropped massively in those few weeks of “normality”. No real data sadly, but a lot of reports of empty sites.
