Black detailing - yay or nay?

Post by LKWK » Sun Apr 18, 2021 9:28 pm

Done a few mods to the car. Getting there, but not yet complete. What do people think of the bonnet?

I am in the Yay brigade! I had a Jaguar Assistance loaner that had the 'Black kit', with the addition of the 20" black wheels, very smart!
I liked it, not only because the stainless steel grill band on mine , which like all stainless steel discolours, was black and looked much smarter and I think should have been black from the word go.

Do you have the part numbers for the badges and grill surround? If so could you post them?

Nice to see sunshine in Nottinghamshire! Trouble is with sunshine and warmth, weeds have a habit of growing in the gravel!!

Stay safe

Yay also.

Why don’t you convert this thread to a poll as it’s quicker for others to respond and you can track those responses?

The gloss black grille surround part number is T4A18492, which is about £120.

I have all the part numbers for the gloss black window trims too, if anyone is interested.

Yes please re part numbers. Had mine wrapped black but it’s a bit scruffy in places.

Here you go. It does get a bit expensive quite quickly though...

In my case, I had the "black pack" added just by vinyl wrapping the above parts for less than £150.
Don't know if someone could tell the difference after very careful inspection, but it looks perfect to me.

Maybe it won't last for ever, but for a cost difference of more than £1.000, I can re-apply a couple of times and it would still be much cheaper.

Of course, this also depends on the price you can find from local vinyl wrap guys, in some countries the same might be much more expensive.

Very Smart - I particularly like the boot and the black leaper and the de-badging.

Did you do the de-badging yourself?

I'm tempted, but our car is now 18 months old and I'd be worried about "Ghosting" where the old badges have come off.

Thanks for the part numbers - very useful.

Kind regards,
Nigel

I debadged my Photon Red I Pace after at least 18 months of exposure to the Florida sun. No ghosting at all.

Corris Grey should be even more resistant to fading than red.
