Climate ‘breathing’ noise.

Post by red_cat_70 » Sun Feb 28, 2021 6:54 pm

Hi all,

New here (and to the I Pace life), so not sure if this has been discussed before or is even a thing anyone has witnessed….

When the climate is running (not on auto, and not smart climate) most of the time it’s making like a breathing sound. Imagine being on the phone to someone and they’re breathing really heavily down the phone to you…. Well that’s what it sounds like so it’s not just a continuous blower sound at all.

It’s really rather annoying especially when the music volume is low, and it can even be heard from the outside so get a few strange looks as people walk by a complete silent car that’s parked up waiting, but it’s ‘breathing’

Thanks for any help…..

Didn’t think I’d need to add this, but helpful responses only please.

Welcome to the forum.

Is your new car's breathing noise repeated breaths or only one long exhaled breath when heard outside. If it is the latter it is likely the air suspension venting while self leveling or when raising or lowering. Range Rovers have the same suspension and are known to pass wind too.

If the noise is prolonged perhaps you could record the audio on your phone to help us with a diagnosis.

Cheers, Steve

Hi Steve,

It literally is like a breathing noise, but only the out breaths. If that makes sense. It can be heard from outside the car and inside.

I have a recording of it, but unsure how to add it onto here?

Might be a leak in the air suspension if it occurs all the time?

This may seem like a silly response but is it the AVAS. Does the sound go away once you driving above 12 mph?

Hi,

No it’s certainly not the AVAS. It’s not a continuous sound, it literally is like breathing. I have a recording but don’t know how to share on here.

It makes this noise no matter the gear, speed or driving conditions. It’s part of the climate system somewhere. When I turn the climate off, it’s stops. Turn it back on and it starts again. 🤷🏻‍♂️
