Data sim card
Data sim card
Hi all,
My car is being delivered tomorrow, which is nice. One question, do I need to get a Sim card for it, or will it come with one already installed? It's a brand new 2020 HSE.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Data sim card
Mine came with an ubigi SIM which gives you a data subscription for at least a year - haven't dug into it too much yet

Re: Data sim card
MY2020 does not come with pre installed 2nd sim card , first one is the one in the TCU module, which comes with the car, by default.
Is it mandatory ? It only depends how eager you are to have : live traffic, hotspot, smart SatNav search, in car browser, weather forecast, news, music streaming, ...

Re: Data sim card
My UK MY20 came with the second SIM as standard. It’s on a 4G service called Ubigi and has a 500Mb monthly plan paid for 3 years by Jaguar.
So far no problems with it. It provides the real-time map info, news, browser, weather, hot-spot etc.
Enjoy the new car, it’s a great drive!

Re: Data sim card
Well for anyone curious, it did indeed come with a sim card. First impressions of the car: I'm very impressed.

Re: Data sim card
JLR dealers supply the Ubigi 500Mb SIM card with all cars that have the SIM feature. New and used. Not all models have it, it is an option on the new Defender for example.
The deal done by JLR with Ubigi is that it roams all the networks and thus is nearly country wide and most of Europe. It is a three year deal.
Before JLR struck the deal with Ubigi most of us opted for the 200Mb free deal from Three.
When my three year deal runs out I will probably go back to the Three 200Mb free deal, assuming it is still on offer!
200Mb is plenty to keep the traffic data coming in, but no more than that.
500Mb with Ubigi does the same but is not really enough to go web browsing!
To do that you need a 4Gb or greater SIM deal. Bare in mind that you will be limited to that' provider's network and may not give coverage countrywide.
This obviously goes for folk in Europe and the USA.
Stay safe
