Rapid misting up
Re: Rapid misting up
Was so severe the heated screen did zilch. Like totally clear to saturated in 10 seconds. I was home in 1 minute after it happened. Atmospheric freak I put it down to. I never set to recirc either.

Re: Rapid misting up
Well, this happened again but to a less severe extent on Xmas morning, early trip to get my Mum, temp was minus 5, car garaged. Misted over in 10 minutes. Turned heater to max screen thingie and it cleared but took a good 30 minutes and several wind downs of the windows. Then it happened again today, temp 0. I discovered I had the auto airflow set to " soft so have upped this to balanced. I'll be putting an old pair of tights full of cat litter inside it to see if I can dry anything out. Was nowhere near as bad as the first time, and totally driveable, I guess a panting dog in the boot contributed today also. Hope the different setting sorts it out. I'd run the climate for about 20 minutes before getting in today to try to avoid it as well.

Re: Rapid misting up
I think your suggestion of the cat litter absorbent is a good start. I can recall these events in old cars without heaters.
My thoughts are that you have water in / on /under the carpets and floor insulation, residual heat rising from the underfloor traction battery is vaporising water that condenses onto the windscreen when the glass is very cold.
Some owners have posted about windscreen leaks with water collecting under the carpets.
Running with the A/C selected to heat the car will help dehumidify the air, I have read comments that the car will use an electric element heater to warm the car if the A/C Mode is deselected. Feel free to correct this theory if I am mistaken.
Cheers, Steve

Re: Rapid misting up
I have the same issue-the windscreen won’t clear fully and all other windows/glass roof are misty affecting vision and seeing wing mirrors. Other cars drive by with clear windows! I’m driving in a mini fog.
Re: Rapid misting up
I would like to ask you guys smth related:
We went up the mountains to the snow. It was around -2°C outside. The snow covered the front windshield and we put our wet clothes in the back.
I got rid of the snow on the windshield and turned on the car with max aircon to the windshield, as I don´t have the heated windshield option.
Of course the battery was cold, so I guess the car had a hard time. But after 2 or 3mins there was only two small spots at the bottom of the windshield that were free of mist. I had to clean the windshield manually with a towel, as I felt like it would take forever.
Is this normal?
Would I need to precondition the car in that scenario, even though I was not connected to charge the vehicle?

Did you clear the air intake from snow ?EEV320 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 12:39 pmI would like to ask you guys smth related:

Re: Rapid misting up
I leave the aircon and auto seat activation on all the time. I never have the air circulation on. So always have fresh air come in to the car. I nearly always precondition from home and don't suffer from any misting up.
The outside of the windows may be misty, just low and raise windows solves that. The heated wing mirrors may take a few seconds to clear as does the rear screen.

Re: Rapid misting up
left the windows open in the garage overnight, then preconditioned for 30 mins prior to Mrs endo doing a quick trip to the supermarket today in near freezing temps, She reported no misting. Cat litter has now gone in as well. Shall see if that helps .

...re precondition from home does that mean you charge to 100% every time?

Re: Rapid misting up
nope, I just put the climate on via the app. In fact I've programmed a shortcut on the phone so I just tap the back of the phone 3 times and the aircon turns on. Also did the same while mrs endo was shopping as she doesn't have the app. Car was plugged into a free charger there.
