Ford Show Jaguar The Way!

Post by LKM10 » Thu Jul 30, 2020 6:20 am

Hi all,
With people occasionally commenting on a possible SVR, I thought I would post a YouTube video on what Ford have done with the Mach E.
It is a light hearted look at what could be!....maybe 500hp. I Pace.
:o 8-)

I don't think the i-pace SVR is going to chase quite the same market that Ford is doing with the Mach-E, Especially not THAT Mach-E :)

I do hope the SVR (or whatever they decide to call it) will have a RWD only mode though. That would be very welcome.

The reason for the video was to show what is possible with electric cars performance wise.
I agree Jaguar will not be looking to replicate a 1400hp car but might look at doing 500hp or so.
They could do as you say and have a rwd mode or do as Ford did on the last Focus RS and produce a car that has the capability to still have 4 wheel drive yet have a higher % of the drive going to the rear wheels, Mercedes are now doing exactly this on their latest A45 & CLA 45 cars.
Whatever Jaguar choose to do, if they do anything, I'm sure it would be a great drivers car.

To be honest, this is no longer a Mach-E as so many items have been replaced. However, because it has the Mach-E body, it’s making all the right headlines for Ford.

I think Jaguar attempted to do the same and was honest about it with their I-Pace trophy series. They were actual I-Pace cars (albeit items removed to make them race worthy) that the normal folk could buy, being raced around to “promote” the car.

It may have been a little too early to gain mass marketing, but I think the I-Pace trophy series was more true to form that this “no more Mach-E” Mach-E stunt. However, if truth be told, this will probably get more publicity with the average person wanting to buy an EV than the I-Pace trophy series did.

On the plus side, I find it encouraging that Ford is actually promoting their first fully backed EV car and not just setting it up for failure.

Exactly this. Totally agree. We’re seeing this more now across the board with mainstream manufacturers, but the days of compliance cars seem to be behind us. Fingers crossed!

jaguar already does this with the AWD F-Type, varying the split according to driving mode, so they have the experience.

I'd like to see the improvements demonstrated by Magna from last year.

I agree!
It's all about publicity, and Ford will get some but are Jaguar missing a trick? They could build a one off also but not as extreme and have it tour dealerships for promotional purposes but maybe they think they do not need to with orders coming in anyway.
I just wish they had sorted the electronics out, only had mine 4 weeks and I have had a blank lower screen on three occasions.
I know it resets but its still blinking annoying.
But thats for another post maybe.
