Strange curve indeed, even without the 'hazard light' trick I get a better charging curve in cold weather. Do you have all the latest updates installed?

The external temp was 14C (as seen in the graph), the car did not move during the day, so I guess the battery was about the same temperature, and I went to the charger in the evening. The charger was 30km away from home, with about 80% of highway. So, no the battery temperature was not optimal. I was able to get 102kw, from 20% to 40%, and then 85kw from 40% to 60%, this summer, on an hot day. Charging control module has been updated a couple of month ago.

You will not get 100kw with a battery cooler than 23 degrees
Your curve shows this, even it is a little unconventional

I drove 150 km today with a full preconditioned battery starting at 19 degrees. OAT was 4 - 8 degrees.
Battery temperature after 150km overland and highway: 19 degrees
I was going faster then (140-150kmh) and got 21 degrees after 240km...

I hammered it at 180 kmh the way back and got 30 degrees at the HPC

I recorded the charging process but startet a little late, sorry

You can see where i turned off hazard lights at the green line, maybe also a little late.

Could this hazard light trick be some sort of signal to the system that you are on the side of a motorway or something has happened to the car (hence the hazard lights) so charge as quickly as possible.

Unless the outside temperature sensor is located just behind one of the hazard lights and by having them in, it fools the system into thinking the outside temp is higher than it actually is

Who will try DC charging with rear defroster enabled?

After putting my hazard light charging video on Facebook, I was contacted by JLR with a few questions. They were baffled as to why this happens, so it's not a design feature.

Let's hope they don't "fix" it. ;)

It is not a design feature boosting charging with the hazard lights... but the throttling mechanism is a design feature... I hope MY2021 is charging without throttling an the older models will do this after a software update either...
I will not accept a new software before I know what it will do 🤣
