Air suspension is only worth it for 22’s. You also have more boot space with coil (saves the air suspension air compressor space under the floor). A journalist from Whatcar? earlier this year said that he prefers coil over air for the I-Pace.
Thanks!

There have been a few threads on this subject.
Ride quality is not much different between steel and air but air suspension allows other features -
- Raising ride height (useful because clearance isn't great for an SUV)
- Lowering ride height (never proven to actually happen at speed)
- Allows Adaptive Dynamics (active dampers) to be specified - this does make a noticeable difference to the car.
- No blank switch locations on dash!

So it's these features you need to decide whether you need.
Thanks Rich!

Ah, I hadn't read that about the air suspension taking up some space in the boot before. When I had a test drive I was surprised how big the spare wheel was (in a bag in the boot) - I know there are situations you can't repair a type with gunk, but the size has put me off for the 99% of time that you don't need it.

I too think the powered tailgate would be worth having on a premium car like this, but can't imagine using the gesture option very often.

One idea for the forum - an "Options FAQ" pinned post like they have in the F-Pace forum (https://www.fpaceforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1996).

I don’t have air suspension and originally had 18 “ rims.

I’ve recently upgraded to Genuine 22” rims. I was worried that I might encounter an issue because They don’t allow 22” tims to be sold without air suspension.

Anyway I’ve not had any issues and the ride is much tighter with the upgrade. Also looks much better!

There is quite a gap between the top of tyre and wheel arch which I presume air suspension could reduce.

Interesting. How much bigger is the trunk space? We only have air suspension here in the U.S. I definitely feel like the boot is not as deep as it should be.

I tested both suspensions on 20" wheels & don't think you really need air suspension. Ended up getting the 18 " wheels which I preferred over the 20's.
I also have the gesture tailgate which I find very very useful.
S, Borasco Grey, 18" wheels, oyster leather, gesture tailgate. Software S20A_20.16.5-536345 & 17.2, H228
