No.
@Ardevd posted in the Norwegian FB-group that JLR confirmed retrofit was impossible.
What a shame. Is it 100% clear that it’s technically impossible, rather than just commercially so? The latter might be reconsidered.
JLR will not offer it and doing it yourself would be a serious undertaking as there's more than just the unit itself that needs replacing.
Are the processors the same or did the give the infotainment some more juice?

Completely new unit. Performance is in a different league. It's what the I-Pace should have had to begin with.

Sad to think about.
The sufficient processing power would maybe cost 100£ more pr car.. Or less.

In direct hardware perhaps, but remember, automotive computing isnt just about buying a motherboard, CPU, GPU and RAM and shoving it into a vehicle. There is an enormous amount of regulation, testing, documentation and approvals involved and it makes no sense for JLR to go through that entire process of upgrading the infotainment hardware for older vehicles.

Found this comparison posted in the German Goingelectric forum. It shows some signifcant improvement in the startup times for key functions.

I suspect those Touch Pro timings are based on old software. It’s nothing like that now in my experience. Used to be for sure, but 20A boots up really fast for me.

I think this may not be the news I would like to hear having only purchase my car in July of last year...

Although I may hope and pray, I don't think there is anyway Jag will roll out the update to existing owners and so we are stuck with the current infotainment system.

I know the answer may be that Apple CarPlay and Adriod Auto may fill in the gap, but I find that they can't handle multiple touch on the interface whereas the onboard navigation can... so it is a little depressing that Jag can't/won't emulate another car company that we all know and "love" that updates their entire fleet (almost) all the time.

And this is why the Parking Assist feature is gone. You get the 360 camera system from the Defender and lose parking assist. I'm all for having greater visibility but my A3 from 6 years ago could look for a big enough parking spot and steer me into it. It sounds like the system in the ipace wasn't as good, but you'd think they'd improve it, not rip it out.

Glad to hear the infotainment performance issues are fixed.
