Hi Ian, Thanks for sending those battery files to me last week.

I found the answer to your question on the function of the two batteries. The pdf file "Battery, Mounting and Cables" contains diagrams and explanations including this extract below: (Warning Acronym Alert)

"DUAL BATTERY SYSTEM
The Body Control Module/Gateway Module (BCM/GWM) contains the software to control the dual battery system. The
BCM/GWM contains the electrical load management system to prevent the Electric Vehicle (EV) operation from affecting
other vehicle electrical systems.

When the vehicle is in operation in all modes except Power Mode 0, the electrical systems are powered from Direct
Current to Direct Current (DC/DC) converter. The DC/DC converter also charges the startup battery and the auxiliary
battery
via the Power Supply Distribution Box (PSDB). The BCM/GWM and the PSDB communicate via a Local
Interconnect Network (LIN).

The PSDB controls the contactors to isolate the auxiliary battery from the system by
opening the PSDB contactors in the event of a 12V systems failure. The auxiliary battery supplies the following:
Brake Booster Module (BBM)
Front Electric Power Inverter Converter (EPIC)
The parking lock actuator in the front Electric Drive Unit (EDU).

This makes sure that the vehicle can be safely stopped in the event of a complete startup battery system failure.

Cheers, Steve

Thank you Steve.
I was trying to trace the wiring to find out what each battery did!
I now realise that the Aux battery wasn't going to do anything unless the Startup battery failed!

For all those that had and remembered the Citroen BX and that LARGE RED STOP that came up on the dash if the hydraulic system suffered a pressure drop. It really did mean STOP as your braking was severely impaired as was your steering, coupled to the discomfort of the car going down onto its bump stops was minor considering you couldn't steer or stop!

It is nice know there are so many safety features on our I-Paces in case of a flat battery!

Cheers for that heads up.

Keep safe

Ian

......The Startup battery is a plain ordinary flooded type, not even an AGM, almost 'cheap and cheerful'!
As the Auxiliary is buried a bit deeper, it is harder to see the model type.

Out of interest is there a published list of API functions an responses?
I was looking through the Topix stuff but couldn't find anything.

Keep safe

Ian
Thats strange, both my batteries are of the AGM type.

Hey morleya, can you check again, there's been a delay processing the form submissions, should be up-to-date now.

Does this app have the option to turn on the heated seats and steering wheel as part of climate settings?

Unfortunately JLR do not allow this to be done via the API, so no app can do this.
