Ecotricity - something has to change.

Post by Jasonfaz » Thu Sep 19, 2019 12:57 pm

Hi All,

Can I politely request as many as possible send complaints via emails, tweets or whatever your chosen medium to Moto and Welcome Break services? I had three failed charging attempts yesterday. My complaints to Ecotricity themselves fall on deaf ears.

An interesting article in AutoCar yesterday reminded me that this is NOT an IPace issue. Below is what I have sent today. The more people that do similar, the more likely we are to get change.

I am open to other ideas.

"Hi,

You are, I am sure, aware of the uptake in Electric Vehicles. But are you aware if the massively unreliable Ecotricity chargers at your sites on the M6? Yesterday I tried three different chargers, none worked. This has happened on a regular basis. So instead of spending money in your facilities I had to deviate off the motorway to a Polar charger at the holiday Inn in Birmingham. This is a very regular problem and Ecotricity are continually slated on forums and in the press. For example,

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/advi ... -i-learned
https://www.ft.com/content/e39f5bd6-053 ... 83d3002ee1

To be clear - this is YOUR chosen partner. Whilst this is a massive inconvenience to me, it demonstrates to ICE car drivers the massive downside to EV's i.e. range anxiety.

So, can you tell me what you plan to do to ensure that the EV revolution is a success and how you will change your infrastructure/partner as you are currently inhibiting the those who want to do the right thing for the environment?

Kind regards
"

You will pleased to hear that they are going to raise their prices at the charging stations :-)

It won’t really affect Jaguar I-Pace drivers, because you can’t charge at most of them anyway.

Like you're representative

Yes, writing to the services management might be more effective - tell them all that you won't stop there unless they replace ecotricity....

So long as Goshdarnit isn’t writing to them saying how great Ecotricity is we won’t have to “have words”

A total waste of time IMHO. The get more income from one Coach Party than a week of EV Charging.

Possibly. Of course doing nothing won’t achieve anything either! :)

Don’t worry, I promise not to undermine your petition! I’d rather see the current monopoly killed off anyway. Even though I have no problems so far using ET, I want to see banks of 150kw chargers outside the door of a service station, not a single 44kw charger with two Leafs parked at it (and a 45 minute time limit)!

A may also be worth pointing out that Extra services have already decided to change from Ecotricity and has brought in Ionity so, if there were a decision as to where to stop, we would avoid their brand every time!
