That might be the case, but that info from JLR isn't what is in the manual. In the manual (picture in a previous post) it explicitly says that off-road 1 is 28mm above normal, manually selected, and off-road 2 is 48 mm above normal, manually selected after reaching off-road 1.

That doesn't equate with my experience: pressing up to raise the car takes it to 48mm at once.

I agree that Extended mode is a different animal, automatically selected based on some conditions (and i don't understand how it detects them...)

It's not very relevant, i was just curious about it.

On another note, it visually kind of bothers me that the normal road height is 18cm, because at that height the wheels aren't symmetrically contained in the wheel arch: The horizontal distance measured from the outside of the wheel to the arch at midpoint isn't the same as the vertical distance measured at the top of the wheel. When in access-height (14cm) it's much more symmetric. There's a reason why most of the press photos are taken at access-height.

Agreed. I think the car looks its best at access height.

I tried it several times (live in a city) just standing there. Press break. Select the hight. But pressing the button for the second time didn't work. The manual says it does. The dealer didnt know. Who knows?

I have again checked this today on mine and when static (in park/drive/with foot on brake or without) there appears to only be one response from the suspension when pressing to engage off road height.

No staged lift from normal height to OR1 then OR2.

I do wonder from previous replies to this thread whether OR1 is engaged if you select the extra height while travelling above 25mph and OR2 requires you to slow to below 25mph and a second press of the height button. However if you select lift when already below 25mph does the car go directly to OR2 height in one movement?

It’s all a mystery ! :)

Thanks to @Groshyubcha over at i-paceforum.com, I just discovered that my I-Pace has an extended mode (which I'm renaming monster truck mode). I elicited the extra lift by putting a polystyrene block under a jacking point. As described by @abudhabidude, it will go into an extended mode automatically if high-centered. You can get additional lift by pressing the brake and holding the "up" button on the air suspension control. Pretty cool, although I don't see myself going off-roading anytime soon. Could be helpful if I get stuck in the organic pumpkin patch parking lot, though.

I measured 9" of ground clearance, which beats the Model Y (6.6"), Mach-E (5.7") and the e-Tron (8.2"). Photo evidence atttached.

Hi All, Yes, it's badly explained in the handbook: off road height 1 is what you get if you press the raise button when travelling between 31-50mph, or go over 31mph having pressed raise button when going under that speed. Off road height 2 is what you get if you press raise button when stationary, up to 31mph.
As others have said, extended mode when beached, and can go higher still, if stationary, press brake and raise button for 3secs. Ask me how I know :D
