Just been trying the timed timed charging on WattCat. I am on version 1.2.3 - I set the timer to commence at 00:01 hrs and finish at 06:00 hrs, I then plugged the car in and Enabled the timed charging in the app. The car starts charging straight away. So I stopped it and set it all up again, but this time I Enable the timed charging first and then plug the car in, again it starts charging straight away. I tried this a few times using different methods but it starts to charge immediately each time. I started trying this at 15:00 hours, with my timed start time at 00:01 each time.

The last time I pressed pause in the app and it now shows charging as Paused, I have no idea if it will actually start at 00:01 or not. Is there something I am doing wrong here or is there a fault somewhere?

Thanks
Chris
You're not doing it wrong but your expectations are probably incorrect. WattCat can't magically detect when you plug in the car. If you have enabled timed charging and plug in the car before timed charging is set to start you might have to wait up until an hour before charging is actually paused. Just plug it in and let it be and see what happens ;) alternatively you can pause the charging manually right away and WattCat will take care of the rest.

Makes sense?
Ah right, that makes sense, so as it is showing as paused now, then it should in theory start charging at the set time eg 00:01 in my case, then stop when I have programmed it too.

I will see in the morning then how it has worked out.

Thanks

I have tried the new timed charging now a few times with mixed results, a few listed below, just for information purposes, in the hope it will help with future development.

21st March as I posted upthread it worked and then didn't work, I paused it later in the afternoon and set up timers for 00:01 to 05:00, it failed completely!

Yesterday 22nd March I set up a timed charge for 15 minutes ahead and it worked, switching on and then off again at the scheduled times, I tried it again later in the day for 2 hours ahead and it worked fine.

So last night I set up timers from 00:01hrs to 05:00hrs, at 01:54 I receive a message stating Request to start charging was successful, this is nearly 2 hours later than it should have started. At 05:45hrs I receive another message stating Timed charging pausing, 45 minutes after it should have ceased, however, it didn't stop then, I receive another message at 05:45 stating Timed charging request failed and the car keeps charging.

This morning at 07:45 hrs the car is still charging and then stops a few minutes later, the car will have been at full charge for a couple of hours in my estimation, so I assume that is what stopped it charging?

Not sure how this all works, but the timed charging feature does seem to be a bit hit and miss at the moment, this is no reflection on you Ardevd as you have done a brilliant job with this app so far, just want to report this as fact and how my car is reacting to the new feature.

Thanks
Chris

Thank you very much for testing. Could you also please make sure you're on version 1.2.3 and could you also try to disable and enable timed charging again and conduct another test? Your feedback would be most valuable. Also, what device and Android version are you running?

In these isolated times I decided to head out for a trek in the woods to find a peaceful spot to do some dev work. Fixing WattCat bugs in the wild :)

Keep up the good work! I still have some snow, "working" from home has its benefits!

I won't be able to test for a bit again as I am now at 100% and not using the car much, but will try as soon as I get chance.

Yes I am on 1.2.3 and Android version 9 on a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 device.

One more thing that happened that was very odd. When I was testing it yesterday during the day, I lost my Profile, I had to set up a new profile in the car and also lost my bluetooth connection to my phone, it took a good few attempts to hook up my phone again. I have no idea if this was caused by setting timed charging up in WattCat or if it was just one of those things, but it has never happened before, so bit of a coincidence, who knows?

Considering the only thing WattCat does it pause and resume charging I would be baffled if it would be the cause of your profile and Bluetooth issues. That said, there could definitely be bugs in InControl that could be triggered by pausing and resuming charging :)

Fair enough, I will see if anything happens again when I get chance to test it next time.
