I would love for WattCat to take data from the OBDII port through a dongle to extend the use of the app. The OBDII expose a lot of extra information, like the battery temperature.

Is there experience with OBDii on the I-Pace?

I checked with an BlueDriver who stated "Pure electric vehicles are exempt from OBDII regulations, as a result manufacturers are permitted to, and often will, use a closed/proprietary diagnostic system."

OBD works on the iPace. You can get battery temps, power output, cabin temperature and a whole lot more. No idea what the PIDs are though sadly. But it definitely works.

It is a bit backwards to use third party equipment to show what could have been shown on the EV screen.

I agree. I wish we had more data available to us, but I’m holding out hopes that someone will produce an app that does something similar to Leafspy. If they do, and made it CarPlay compatible, imagine the display we could have then!

So got myself an OBDLink LX and only get auxiliary battery voltage and Relative accelerator pedal position as read outs. Cannot believe even defaults like speed, distance and outside temperature are not available. Checked on our our jaguar F-Pace and they read just fine, so it's not a faulty device.

What reader have you used to get your readings you got?

That’s why I said we need to get the PIDs. The standard Jag ones don’t work so you would need a custom file with the PIDs used by the I-Pace. Somebody has cracked them, as I’m part of a Beta test for a route planning app which takes data from the OBD. There is all the data you could want available, but without the codes it’s impossible to access. I’m hoping the upcoming cars like the XJ will encourage more people to investigate this and get the codes out into the wild. At the moment I can check power consumption, exterior temperature, cabin temperature, stare of health (%), state of charge (%), state of charge (kWh), charging power. So there really is a full range of data available. Just needs someone clever to get sniffing! I looked into it but couldn’t even get started on it! I just didn’t have enough time (or energy) to start digging deeper.

Thanks, thought you had pulled some of these standard.

The beta, is that ABRP? More testers needed?

Sadly, no. It’s another app. I wish ABRP had access to all of this. That would make it perfect.
