Underground carpark in control connection

Post by EG1 » Tue May 14, 2019 10:31 pm

I’m sure I’m not the first one to ask and tried to find the answer on the forum but couldn’t so apologies if this has already been asked as I’m new to this. My car is parked underground with no mobile reception however there is WiFi in the car park. I would like access to the car via the incontrol app from my flat so I can get the full benefit of the technology however I don’t know if and how I can connect the car to the parking WiFi network and if this would indeed enable me to locate and communicate with the car remotely. Thanks for your help and thanks for having contributed to building such a useful resource for new EV drivers like me.

On the main screen, go to Settings. (Make sure to choose "All Settings" as the menu is somewhat context-dependent.)
Find "Connectivity"
There's an option to connect to a wifi network. Now, what I don't know is whether that actually allows connections from the App. Give it a try.

Does this mean that delivery of SOTA will only work over WiFi if the car is turned on?

Thanks for the replies. What I’m really after is a way to monitor the car (ie lock doors, see remaining charge etc) when the car is In the underground carpark rather than do updates which I can do outside the car so it looks like the WiFi won’t be the right solution then. Seems strange that jaguar haven’t thought of this?

But can I still monitor the car through in control app if it’s off and on WiFi?

No. In order for WiFi to function the ignition needs to be on.

SOTA has to be downloaded with ignition on, can be installed without that connection
