Car Rejection Experiences

Post by Billy Bunter » Wed Mar 13, 2019 9:26 pm

there are now a few posts from people on here reporting that they have ‘rejected’ their cars after delivery.

It would be interesting to know what legal basis isbe8ng used, and whether these customers have specific contractual clauses. Of course there is also the ‘fit for purpose’ consumer protection laws in each country, but I would expect that the dealers would be fighting to avoid these rejections at all costs........

Would any of you that have actually rejected an iPace after delivery please care to share your experience, and how you convinced the dealer to accept the rejection ?

Did you also receive full refund, or did you only receive some part of the purchase price ?
Order on hold hoping for improvements......

You will find that quite often a NDA will be involved and people returning cars will not be able to comment.

I guess (!!!) that due to high demand and long waiting time for I-Pace many dealers may accept "rejection" and sell the car instantly to another customer, maybe even with some additional fee for "express delivery"....

I rejected my previous car after 2 days of ownership. The dealer fixed the faults and it went on sale. The new owner was more than happy with it after posting about his experience on the XE owners forum and receiving what was essentially a new car.

How come you had to reject it after 2 days?

Mostly paint defects which I spotted after cleaning it at home. That could have been corrected but when I started to look closer the list got bigger. Poor panel alignment, really thin paint around number plate lights and inside doors, boot trims falling off that were simply glued on, boot spoiler lifting, a miss from the engine and warning light on the dash. It was a mess of a car and a disgrace for JLRs so called quality control for a car costing £40k.

I assume the quote above means it was an XE.
