Jaguar do not claim the car does this. Nowhere in their documentation or promotional media do they claim the car does this. It sounds like the dealership did not even confirm this feature existed. So it appears that your expectations where just set apart from the reality.
Actually I can fully understand how somebody could have the impression that this is how the car works. I think Jag were very woolly in their wording when describing the active speed limiter function. Have a look at this video and I think you’ll agree that it could easily be interpreted in that way...

I was wary enough to do a lot of digging and work out what they actually meant but at face value the advertising was at best confusing on this feature.

Sadly the experience is over for me, I rejected the car today and handed the log book back to the dealer along with all additions.
I fully accepted the car may be a bit unreliable, I was happy to give them 6 months, but a dealer that can’t keep you informed and doesn’t return phone calls and just fobs you off doesn’t deserve my £83k, so very sad, I rejected it.
I will order a new one later in the year, I will keep my eye on this forum to see how things are progressing and I really did enjoy my six days with the car.
I must add, JLR support when the car failed was exceptionally good and efficient, shame the same can’t be said for the dealer, if the dealer had operated with half the care and concern that JLR have, I would never have rejected the car.
I just felt I had lost all confidence in the dealership and their ability to service this type of vehicle.

That’s sad but understandable. This is one area where I feel the Tesla model works better (Elon Musk’s insane u-turns aside). The dealer network concept leaves customers beholden to a third party who may or may not be as motivated as the actual manufacturer to please customers. I do feel that taking dealerships “in-house” should make for a more consistent customer experience. Not that I’m saying the Tesla experience is always good, but there is a higher level of consistency than is evident with independent dealer networks. I’m very lucky in that my nearest dealer is actually very good and very motivated, and keen to learn about this new vehicle. But it shouldn’t come down to whether or not you’re lucky enough to have a good dealer near you.

Anyway, onwards and upwards mate. I hope you do come back to the ipace but whatever you end up with I wish you the best of luck with it.

I guess it's the difference between the target markets - people who buy Mercs (and BWMs) generally don't like cars, they just want the perceived status, whereas people who buy Jags like driving and have a clue about how to drive.
obviously you’ve never driven a BMW “M” then !

True, but the vast majority of BMW drivers aren't driving Ms, hence my "generally" statement ... ;)

I have to admit that video certainly does JLR no favors in this matter.

I have to say that my experience with my local dealer is of a chaotic, badly led and disjointed business. I won’t bore you with the whole series of mistakes but my car was booked in to pair the activity key which they forgot at my handover as it was locked in a safe off site and to go through some charging errors etc. After a day with them they contacted me to say they needed to keep it for another day as the software specialist who does this work was on a course.

You couldn’t make this stuff up. 😂😂

Sounds like you have the same dealer as me, or is it just a JLR thing. I have not received my vehicle yet and i'm already peed off with the bad dealer service. Another case of "thank you for your deposit, now do one".

It's pretty much a JLR dealer thing. The car is exceptional once you recover from the dealer trama.
