Hi, I just received my Ipace today. I'm having a problem inserting the charging cable. It just shows the red flashing light. When I first inserted it earlier it went in ok. I then couldn't remove it even with car unlocked for a while. I had to pull the release cable for the charger but now it wont lock in. It does go all the way in but doesn't click shut and just shows the red light. I've been trying for a while now. Does anybody know how to fix this or does it need to go to the garage?
Your dealer should have shown you how to charge your car. I declined their offer because I had been driving a PHEV for 4 years.
Go back and get them to show you how to charge the car.
Thanks for your replies. There is now a charging system error on the dashboard so I'll call the Jaguar garage in the morning. Hopefully nothing too serious.
Only related to you not being able to release the cable, but are you aware that you have to unlock (with the remote) three times to release the cable, as per the sticker on the inside of the flap?

Is that from with the car locked or unlocked? If I have the car locked, there's a definite 'click' from the charging port on the third press, and my cable won't release before that.
For me, with the remote it's:
1st press: unlocks driver's door
2nd press: unlocks all doors
3rd press: unlocks charging cable
I think it depends on a) the settings that you have for the door locks ie driver only or all doors on first press and b) whether it is a rapid charger or a standard Fast Type 2 charger. The rapid CCS chargers require the extra press but the normal fast Type 2 chargers work on the same as the passenger door unlocks.

For example: when I arrive at a fastcharger, and start charging, I lock the car and buy a coffee. When I come back and I unlock the car with the FOB (one Press), my charging session ends and the charging cable unlocks.
So when returning to my car, I press the little button on the door handle to unlock the car. That way my charging session is not interrupted.
But next wednesday I am up for the major software updates and all TOPIX-fixes including H207, H228 and the new Charing Sticker!
I am already on S19B_19.40.4-436082 but that one will not affect charging behaviour I guess.

What you describe is pretty standard behaviour for some Ecotricity and older CYC chargers.
I've gotten into the habit of unlocking the way you suggest at all chargers now. This seems to work apart from one charger (Ecotricity M3 Fleet Services Northbound).
Instavolt and Pod-Point (DC) chargers seem not to stop when the door is opened using the key fob.
Things have gotten better with recent software upgrades to both the cars and chargers but it pays to be careful.
Sorry to mix things in this forum, but I could not find any other relevant forum.
Now being the owner of a HSE for nearly half a year, there are still small things that make me wonder what car manufactures can learn from each other cars.
I have had a Tesla Roadster for 6 years, now sold, and a BMW i3 REX for two years, so I feel well experienced with "work in progress", and naturally expect that one has to live with minor issues for a while. I am very happy about the car, but I still love our BMW - it just does the job!
Now I get to the point: Why is there no warning inside the car if you try to drive with the charging port open??? Both the Roadster and the I3 warn you, the Roadster refuses to drive! May be I am just forgetful, but it has happened several times and I have met several helpful people who have waved to me in the traffic about the open port! Anyone else had the same experience?

I've never had any ICE car that warns if the fuel flap isn't shut (or even if the filler cap isn't replaced!) - why should an EV be any different in expecting drivers to take some personal responsibility? :?
You should only have to press the unlock button on the fob three times if you've set the single press for driver's door and double press for all doors in the instrument panel settings. If all doors unlock with a single press then two presses will unlock the charging port lock. I normally just press the button on the driver's door handle and the port unlocks too.
That being said, it sounds like the original poster in this thread might have broken the charge port lock. The red light on the port and the red charge error on the instrument panel means a serious problem that requires a trip to the dealer. Sorry for the bad news.
