Re: 12V reset procedure

No argument there! I simply meant it seems a strange thing to do as a routine.. With the faults you have had its definitely worth checking if the H288 recall has been carried out on your vehicle as some of those faults go with the malfunction of the harness - lots of threads about this. Love to Ita...

Re: 12V reset procedure

not sure where that idea comes from but seems like a lot of hassle for no outcome if your car is working fine. Bad Things happen when the 12v system gets too low but you can keep an eye on that easily with a cigar lighter voltage readout plug-in. You can also charge the 12v battery in situ with a c...

12V reset procedure

From various threads I noted how important can be to perform a sort of reset for the 12V circuits, to avoid stupid software bugs and wrong calls. It’s not an every day operation and it is not free (many settings will be lost), but can maybe save from tow car and a lot of stress, especially for brick...

Re: ABS software issue - 2500 kg Black Stone in the middle of the road

If I would perform a 12V complete reset, will be enough to disconnect the SLA 12V battery? Probably not, you have two 12 batteries (pre MY21) and a small 4.2v backup battery in the TCU. I believe you can find the TCU on the left side of the boot but I haven't checked. I know where the lead acid bat...

Re: ABS software issue - 2500 kg Black Stone in the middle of the road

It’s not only Jaguar that have EV problems, a friend of mine changed his Porsche Carrera 4 for a Porsche Taycan, it lasted 1 week before it would not restart, luckily in a car park, a further 2 breakdowns in the first month he rejected it and got his old Carrera back. Despite the issues Jaguar did ...

Re: ABS software issue - 2500 kg Black Stone in the middle of the road

I am trying to maintain an objective position, never the hooligans one. Just wondering if it is correct to rely on something we cannot change or bypass even if we know what to do, how to do and/or in a dangerous situation. That said, fact JLR competitor aren’t in a better position it’s not a great s...

Re: ABS software issue - 2500 kg Black Stone in the middle of the road

My father in law had this with his BMW twice.: on the highway, could not even unlock the car. BMW could not find anything. Eventually it took someone from the AA to figure it out. Most cars are electronics and software nowadays. The 'software update' might just have been the only way to reset. http...

Re: ABS software issue - 2500 kg Black Stone in the middle of the road

Scary, good you are safe and sound. I have heard about similar experiences with Teslas, Etrons and ID3s. And it is getting worse, due to all the "safety" regulations the autonomous features of a car gets more and more complex. And planes! Boeing 737 Max is a prime example. If you do not want a comp...
