Problems with 7kw Polar Plus charging

I live in central London and have no possibility of having my own home charger here. However outside of my front door is an Ubitricity 5.5kw lamp-post charger and I have subscribed for one of their specialist metered cables which works just fine. However, around the corner is a Polar Plus 7kw charge...

Re: Charging in UK/Scotland on 50kw

I am having trouble with a Polar 7kw charger round the corner from where I live in central London. The charge point is used almost all the time during the day by a variety of vehicles, all apparently without a problem. However when I have cabled up my iPace to the charger it worked absolutely fine o...

Re: Commando charging point

Thanks Doug. Yup, that was pretty much what I had figured out but good to have it confirmed.

Re: Commando charging point

DougTheMac, that was my rather more ignorant supposition too. So what one ideally needs is a Commando to Type 2 converter to allow one to use the Type 2 lead that comes with the car for a 7Kw 32amp charge from the Commando socket, as opposed to Paul J's solution which would limit one to the maximum ...

Re: Service Pricing

I was told to expect a service very 2 years costing just a few hundred pounds due to so few moving parts. I will do roughly 12000 miles a year with social, domestic and pleasure or whatever the insurers describe it. The dealer told me that Jaguar’s so called deal of a service plan with payment of ne...

Re: Insurance

Aviva. By a long way the cheapest quote I found. Some quotes were over £1600 or not even prepared to offer a price. Aviva was pretty much as per MEO’s post.

Re: Commando charging point

That would be perfect Paul J but what I wonder is whether that retains the 7kw 32 amp of the Commando socket or whether everything reduces to the trickle charge of 1% an hour of the 13 amp granny charger? Anyone know? Frankly the granny charger speed is so slow that it is hardly worth it except in a...

Re: Preconditioning

Really simple question this so forgive the ignorance. For the first time since I got the car bearly a month ago I am actually preconditioning as I have the car on charge at a lamp-post. How can I tell that it is pre-conditioning as per my set departure time as there doesn't appear to be anything on ...

Re: Commando charging point

No Snoerd I DO mean Commando and no Chademo. Google it and you will see what I mean. Caravns hook up to these sort of leads as do various high amp power tools as well as some (very few) ev's with type 1 cables.

Commando charging point

In a couple of weeks I am staying at a hotel which appears to have 2 EV charging points but one of them is only a 13amp plug point and the other has a Commando socket. It appears to me that nether is of much use to me as I will in all likelihood gain about 20% of range, if that, overnight from the 1...
