I think it's becoming increasingly apparent that access to a network of high-speed chargers are needed for us to drive the I-Pace as god intended, however, if you look at the Ionity website there is one glaring omission on their map ……the UK.
According to the Ionity site no charger sites are being constructed (planned), let alone being put into service in the UK.
This after the announcement earlier in the year that 3 (I think) UK sites would be announced (and I had assumed opened) by the end of September (again, I assumed 2018).
Also a recent press release by Ionity also said that the price of using a Ionity charger is 8, 8 Euros, 8 pounds, 8 CHF - so again, one has to assume that at least one UK charger will be operational before the end of 2018.
Also emgf said that having spoken to ABB at the Paris Motorshow 300 of the 400 Ionity sites have already been acquired, so surely someone must know where these sites are going to be.
My understanding is that Ecotricity has a monopoly on non-Tesla charging at UK motorway service stations - is that correct?
If so, it does seem very short sighted of the British Government and a very bad deal for the UK driving public because where are the superfast IONITY chargers going to go if not on Motorways?
Has anyone bumped into any of these Ionity chargers in the UK?
Maybe they have had a soft launch - and they are already operational (the end of September was quite some time ago), It would be great to get a handle on where these chargers are going to be as it will be fundamental to the usefulness of the car.
The Jaguar Public Charging app seems to be showing a fixed-rate of 8.80 EUR per charge. Has anyone here checked this? I've seen a person from Sweden in another thread stating that the app provided a fixed-rate charge.
Ionity Network roll out status - Ionity is really behind their promise of 400 stations live by end of 2020.
6 months into the year they have done approx 50% of what they did in 2019 with still more than 100 new constructions to start and finish to reach 400 goal. View attachment 2072 View attachment 4808
I suspect these numbers were all pre-COVID and they need to be revised as a result.
I can't see them being able to roll out 400 stations in 1 year nor do I see the business case for doing so when there are still so many restriction on travel, and therefore, the primary use of their service.
I used the ChargePoint card on my recent journey from the UK to Denmark. I charged 5 times at Ionity charging points, in Belgium, Holland, Germany (2) and Denmark. The charges advertised of about €8 are correct. I paid a total of £37 for the whole journey of 780 miles

Sadly this appears to be coming to an end confirmed by Electricfelix 'The big ChargePoint party at Ionity lasted nearly half a year. But it's over now: 0,65/kWh still competitive if you forget about Maingau. Right now it's JuicePass season! #alwaysbecharging #ionity #pricing #update' https://t.co/T78hPuZBgBhttps://t.co/1GAoNX24Yr

Apparently JuicePass doesn't work in the U.K. (according to Felix again). He tells me it is coming to the U.K. in September, but that's obviously too late for this offer.
So I cannot register for the app in the UK even though I'd want to use it in EU countries where it would work... I thought we were currently all part of one big EU market.
My girlfriend is Czech and maintains a Czech address. Do you happen to know if she could register and use the app through Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Czech?
Looking top level at Ionity Europe map now that they opened the 250th station it shows some odd areas deprived of Ionity stations.
1) None in Luxembourg nor the area around - despite it being a major route from NL/BE to FR
2) Middle/East part of France - a massive area with no stations at all
3) No chargers anywhere near Rome
4) No chargers at all in Poland - could that be because the low % green electricity? View attachment 480

On Apple device if you turn of WiFi go Into setting for apps in JuicePass turn off enable location. Log out of juicepass and close app the. Log back in select lectionary as Italy you get the option!
Frustrating and that's my concern about using the Jaguar Public Charging app, which seems to be offering a fixed session rate. Have you tried that one?

I charged with the "Jaguar Public Charging" app today. They have yet to charge me, but I will let all know when I'm billed. The app says it's a flat rate, so I presume this is how I get charged.
I'm going to try one of the Ionity Chargers at Cambridge Extra Services tomorrow using the Jaguar App. I've tried Ionity 3 times before and had 2 failures (both at Gretna). The only success was at Milton Keynes. Those were done using the Ionity App which failed miserably (too short a timeout on one screen).
I'm going right past on the A14 so I don't have to divert very far to try them out.
1) Ionity Cambridge
I rolled up and used the Jaguar Public Charging App and bingo, it started charging. 82kWh. Great so I went and bought a coffee.
My joy was shortlived. Just over 10kWh was delivered and the charger shut down. It said 'Charging Complete'.
I did the sums and... behold. It delivered £8.80 worth of Electricity if you use the normal £0.79p per kWh charge.
2) Ionity Baldock.
The site there isn't in the Jaguar Charging app but it didn't matter. I smiled when I found the 4 chargers are currently on free vend. Bingo.
I briefly got 100kWh but it settled down to 83/84 kWh.
But the joy didn't last. The charger shut off after 30 mins and 40kWh delivered. I briefly debated moving to another charger and trying again but I have more than enough in the battery to get home.
It would be nice if someone else could verify that using the Jaguar App does what I saw earlier but the free vend at Baldock might be useful for others.
