Good Afternoon

In line with some of the feedback we have received in regards to accessing Software Updates, please see the below information.

NGI updates have been previously suspended, however if your vehicle is a 19MY and you are experiencing concerns (you can identify this from the VIN number, below is an example, it will display a "K" from right to left) via Software Updates, your local retailer can activate Software Updates and update the NGI system to the latest level. The retailer will then deactivate Software Updates, should a customer wish to reactivate it, they can choose to accept the terms and conditions.

VIN: "SAXXXXXKXXXXXXXXX"

Should you have any further questions, then please do not hesitate to contact CRC@Jaguar via PM.

Many Thanks

Hi crc@jaguar,

Can you confirm that NGI updates are no longer suspended.

What is the latest level that the NGI system should be upgraded to by the dealer?

Thanks,

Chewy

NGI is Jaguar's internal name for the InControl Touch multimedia system. The controller for this system is known as the Infotainment Master Controller, or IMC as we usually see it represented in Topix etc.

So in short: NGI software = IMC software.

Latest version of it is 19A. You can check this in your car by navigating to the Software Updates screen and tapping 'Check for updates'. The current Infotainment software version will then be shown. If the version is lower than 18D, software over the air (SOTA) updates will not be available. Some 18D cars already have working SOTA, on other 18D cars it is not working. If lower than 18D or 18D not working, you have to go your retailer to get infotainment (IMC, NGI) updated to 19A.

Today's adventure with NGI.

Centre screens took around 5 minutes to boot up after powering the car on.

Online Media, Apple CarPlay, InControl Apps, Android Auto, Phone Interface not available.

So the Next Generation Infotainment System allowed me to listen to the radio.

Hopefully when I power the car down and leave it for an hour it might work again.

Hi Dan,

I'm on 18C as well and now I'm confused. I was told by the dealer that my car was enabled for SOTA when I picked it up. On the "Software Update" page I have a button to switch updates on and off, and when I press the "check for updates" button it says "no update available". Does that mean I need to visit the dealer or not? (the 10th digit of my VIN is K)

As per my post on the parallel thread on this subject.......

Dan's post makes no sense to me. I have a car with a K VIN no. Can I receive over the air updates or not? Do I need to take it to the dealer to get this featured activated? It is written as though I need to go to my dealer to get it deactivated .... why would I want to do that?

Some clarity needed please!

What Dan means to say is:

- currently your I-PACE can not receive OTA updates even though you have the setting enabled in your car
- in order to be able to receive OTA updates you first have to get the InControl (IMC) software of your I-PACE updated at your retailer - to version 19A
- in order to reset the system to a state that OTA can start working, the retailer has to set OTA to 'switched off' in your I-PACE (the setting in the Software Updates acreen) - this will reset the account I assume
- once you have your I-PACE back from the workshop, you will swiitch OTA on again accepting the terms, setting your PIN etc - the dealer can not do this end user action for you as it requires your consent (again)
- now OTA will be enabled and switched on with end user consent

Thank God someone can communicate clearly, thanks Martijn 👍

Im so confused right now...

The retailer will then deactivate Software Updates, should a customer wish to reactivate it, they can choose to accept the terms and conditions.
So OTA updates are disabled by default and the customer has to actively engage with the retailer to activate it?

EDIT: Saw the explanation above. A bit ridiculous but oh well.

Martijn or Dan just to clarify what does this mean for those of us on 18D do we need 19a before we get SOTA updates?

Well I'm really confused my car received SOTA update last Saturday, when it downloaded and installed on the drive S18C_18.37.1-222709, or has it all changed/been suspended since then?
It updated my previous version of S18C_18.37.1-222737, to 709 I know an older version, chaos at JLR!

I'm also wondering why anyone thinks it's a good idea to support installation of OTA updates while the car is driving. Unless OTA updates are not supported for critical systems such as the drive unit, battery control module, etc.

That's indeed very strange. An OTA 'downdate' instead of an update...

It's only the infotainment system that can be updated whilst using the car. The other modules render the car unusable whilst the car is updating.

As 19A is a very recent update, and dealers have been told NOT to install it because it is holed with bugs and to wait for another release inApril, are we assuming that not one single car delivered by Jaguar is able to receive OTA updates?

This means that every I-Pace has to go back to the dealer for a software update? And when would this happen as Jaguar do not seam able to communicate even the simplest of details?

So dealers have been told NOT to update 18C or older to 18D due to bugs in 18D, AND now also NOT to update 18C or 18D to 19A due to bugs in 19A ??

Earlier on I understood that dealers were forced to stop all 18B/18C updates to 18D due to issues that occurred with a number cars that were updated from 18C to 18D, and that they had to wait for 19A, so cars could be updated directly from 18B/18C to 19A. Now even 19A seems not to fix the problems?

It's becoming more and more confusing...

Yes I left my car 1 day at my dealer early this week for my suspension knock and they said no new update available for your car so I still in 18C and 13.2.
Further more they won't call u for update. They ll only do when u bring car for maintenance so every 2 years or 30 000km ...

#25 ·
Even though have received the email from Jaguar, I have booked my car for latest software update at the dealer.
The dealer & I agreed to give it about 2 weeks before installing for to make sure all was well. Confirmed this morning that all seems to be good.

The situation can be better since I got 18D 3 weeks ago and 14.2 4 months ago .
I believe what is happening is that a dealer does not want to spend too much time upgrading a tricky EV, therefore when Tophe 74 suspension was
changed there was no more time to do the upgrades.
